Corporate citizenship, and responsible business is a concept whereby organizations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities and other stakeholders, as well as the environment. This obligation is seen to extend beyond the statutory obligation to comply with legislation and sees organizations voluntarily taking further steps to improve the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large.
Issues of Concern:
Over the past two years, the footprints team has spoken to thousands of community leaders enquiring about the state of our community. The issues raised were the high drug levels, prostitution, fighting gangs, white collar crime, murders of passion, littering, neglect for property, council problems and the fight for power.
Bringing People Together:
Organizing of local fetes, fun runs, speech contests, air shows, circuses, late night schooling, crime patrols and sporting competitions as the many ways of bringing our communities together. Attending local mosques, churches and mandhirs are ways to “keep in touch” with our fellow community people. Footprints Filmworks aims to H I G H L I G H T these issues on our feature film due out in the course of next year.
DEALMAKING:
Bringing our fellow community people together costs time, money, effort and promotion. Whilst we do our best to provide the best customer service we rely on our advertisers and shareholders. Our team of fully trained professionals and entrepreneurs provide the necessary know how on structuring events on community involvement. The key to d e a l m a k i n g is selling benefits.
Keeping it Simple:
What you do good forget about it. As the media we feel that it’s our duty to uplift the communities and people we interact with. Laudium, Lenasia, Verlum, Overport, Port Shepstone, Rylands and Roshnee are examples of small communities in South Africa that require our know how on improving facilities in the fields of property, welfare, entrepreneurship, family values, and anything that has added value to our community as a whole.
WHAT’S NEXT?
We can set sky high goals and ambitions but this means nothing if there is no action. Our appeal to community leaders is to encourage growth, promote peace and humanity and yet remain focused on our own dreams and targets. The challenges we have today are drops in the ocean as compared to the challenges our fellow brothers and sisters go through. If we can teach one another that would be our purpose for growth.
INVITATION:
Shareholders and advertisers of Footprints Filmworks are welcome to attend an annual meeting that will be held in August 2008. The issues addressed will be issues of the communities concern but also on how we can become better as community people and South Africans. Dates of the meeting will be sent out within the course of Early August Persons are welcome to visit our website at www.footprintsfilmworks.com.
